Episode 4 My Love to
Kamakura No.6 Feb 10, 2022 |
Printed on page 6 of Newsletter No. 26 issued in 2004, contributed
by the former former chairman, Hashimoto |

<On Shinano Road> by chairman Hashimoto Isao Hojo Shigetoki was the
governor of Shinano Province (currently Nagano Pref.) One of his sons, Hojo
Yoshimasa, suddenly left Kamakura although he was the assistant to Regent of
Kamakura Bakufu (Japanese feudal government) and took up his residence in the
Shioda Daira area of Shinano Province. The Hojo clan transferred the culture
of the Kamakura capitol to this area for 57 years over three generations of
the Hojo clan including Shigatoki's son and grandson, Kunitoki and Toshitoki.
So, they say that this area became to be called "Kamakura in Shinano
Province." Forgive me, I will leave
Kamakura for a while to think about roads in Shinano Province. (Outline of these Waka
poems) - Locals say Japanese
azalea blooms twice a year. Now the scarlet flower has fully bloomed. - Taking the sound of Mt.
"Jonen" as a word meaning pathos, I am traveling around the Azumino
area enthusiastically thinking about you. *scarlet flower = Japanese
azalea *Jonen = Mt. Jonen in the
Northern Alps area The newsletter editor,
Uemura Minoru, gave a comment: It is sad that this page
has become the last post from our chairman, Hashimoto. He sent this post to me
saying, "Is it OK to send one more post? I heard that you have not
received enough volume of posts yet." After I said by phone, "I
found a wonderful photo of Mt. Jonen on the Internet together with a back
shot which is exactly like that of you," he answered with joy, "Mr.
Uemura, I had drawn a sketch of that mountain. I am going to show it to you
next time." I never dreamed that his voice I heard became his last voice
I heard from him. |
